Original value starts with a specific question, a defensible source, and a method another analyst can inspect.
Credit the data source
Every report names its data source. Our market reports credit PropTx for the underlying real-estate data and New Purveyors Lab for the analysis and commentary.
Make every number traceable
Original data studies document source versions, periods, definitions, sample sizes and calculations. Source-reported commentary identifies the provider, capture date and transcribed measures; it is not presented as an independently calculated dataset.
People own the interpretation
Research credits identify actual contributions. A named reviewer approves the exact report and commentary. A changed dataset or interpretation requires a new review.
Make uncertainty visible
We distinguish correlation from causation, avoid comparisons across incompatible geographies, and withhold small samples. We do not pretend that listing data represents every household.
Keep the record
Material updates receive dated editions. Corrections explain what changed. A build date is not a research update date.
